Cards and a box for my Mom

Once a week my friend Lisa and I meet to scrap. Last week Lisa was making a bunch of birthday cards. When she was finished, she handed them to me and told me to give them to my mom for Christmas. Now there was a stipulation, I had to make the box!

Now, knowing that it was just a few short days to Christmas, I had to find time to create. Not a problem, if someone is going to do a nice thing like this for your mother, you are going to find time to finish a little box.

Actually, the box went together really fast. The original pattern came from the tutorials on Split Coast Stampers.

This was the first year I started stamping and blogging. I have met a few people through various boards. First I met Kara through 2peas. I joined a group through 2peas and Kara is the leader. From there I met Amy. Amy is no longer in the group, but we have stayed in touch. Then, I posted a note on the forum on Split Coast Stampers looking for other stampers living close to me. That was when I found Lisa. Recently, I have been conversing with a girl from Texas. I think the funniest story was when I was "private messaging" someone not knowing who I was talking to and it was my next door neighbor!

Celebrating Cupcakes

In January, my husband's family celebrates A BUNCH of birthdays. There are 5 in his immediate family and one of his cousin's birthday, for a total of 6 birthdays. I am so glad I have been playing with challenges from other blogs. If I do several each week, I will be ahead of the card making and not stressing about what to do to make a card. However, 4 of the birthdays are for 1 brother, 1 brother-in-law, 1 dad and 1 very young nephew. I will have to figure out how to make masculine cards!

This is my version. I have used the same DP and papers as in the past post. The cupcake was paper pieced. For the scalloped circles, I used on the small scallop the QuicKutz Nesting Flowers and the larger scallop I used Nesties. The cupcake image and sentiment are from Inkadinkado "Birthday Cupcake".

Happy Birthday to my big boy!

This is the sketch challenge for Prairie Paper & Ink. I used this sketch to make my oldest son's birthday card. He will be turing 22 soon after Christmas. I cannot believe he will be 22!

I think it is hard to make cards for boys, especially when I don't have any images that look like boy images. You know, cars, etc. Thankfully, we all like cats in our family, so I used this image from Whipper Snapper Designs called Cupcake Kitty. The DP is by Debbie Mumm from Creative Imaginations. The solid paper is Bazzill with brads from American Crafts.

Trying to Play Along

At my friend Lisa's suggestion, I decided to try the weekly sketch on the blog "Prairie Paper & Ink". The stamp is called Jingle All the Way by smARTworks. This must be the elves lining up for a photo opp. The photo must have happened before the Christmas rush, because they all are smiling.

Happy Puppy

I love puppies and I love my puppy the most.

We have a silly Bordor Collie. Now she is not a puppy by age because she is 5, but she is our puppy.

The puppy on this card is an image by Penny Black. I received this image on the Wish RAK on Split Coast Stampers. The DP is by K&Co. and I used Prismacolor Pencils for the coloring.

Birthday card for my high school BF

My high school friend is getting close to celebrating her birthday (the year is a secret!) She is a very talented artist and has made all her Christmas cards for years. Now that I have taken up stamping and card making for a hobby, it is fun to finally share my hobby with her. Happy Birthday Gena!

The stamped image is from Whipper Snapper Designs called Cupcake Mouse. I received the image as a Wish RAK on SplitCoastStampers. The paper is HL textured cardstock and K&Co. designer paper.

Star Book?

Sorry for the dark pictures, if I remember correctly, it was cold and damp outside, therefore, the pictures were taken on my kitchen table. Today it is wildly windy and cold.

This little book was to be a Star Book. The original idea came from the blog Amazing Paper Grace. It was very simple to make. It would be great to make for different occasions, such as a Grandmother's Brag Book with her precious little one featured.

This book was made on my Wednesday Scrapping Day with Lisa. We helped each other through the instructions, or Lisa had the instructions and I followed! Yep, I'm a follower....

The Christmas DP is from Cloud9Design by Fiskars called "Christmas Wreath". I didn't know Fiskars was now making DP!

This card was a simple card. I scraplifted this layout from someone's blog, I just don't remember which blog it was. (Sorry) The image came from Split Coast Stampers Wish RAK.

Cats of a Kitty Cat, Meow, Meow, Meow

In case you didn't know, I love kitties. So, when I found this stamp at an Owasso LSS, I just had to have it. The pink paper was supplied to me by my good friend Lisa. We both have decided that we love pink so much, because we both have only boys.

Frogs For Birthdays

My baby nephew turns 13 tomorrow. It is hard to find an image for a 13 year old! I looked through my stash to see what was available besides flowers. There was this cute little frog smiling at me just wanting to be colored. I used the weekly challenge from Split Coast Stampers.

Anniversary and Birthday Cards

This card was made for my high school BF and her husband. They celebrated their 27th (I think) anniversary on the 17th. It was created using this pattern on SplitCoastStampers.


Today is my mother's birthday. We had my family over and we had hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch.

I just love this little flamingo (& my mommy). It was designed using this sketch from SplitCoastStampers.

Branson, Missouri

Several weekends ago, we traveled to Branson, Missouri. They have an amusement park called, "Silver Dollar City". Here are my 3 riding Wildfire. It loops several times upside down. Something I refuse to do.


Here are the boys getting ready to ride "Powder Keg". Heads need to be facing foward because it really takes off FAST.

Next are family shots in front of a pumpkin tree.

We had a great time and of course, there is plenty of shopping in Branson too.

Anniversary Card

Recently, my husband and I celebrated our 25 wedding anniversary. Here is the card I made for him. The colors in the card reflect the colors we had in our wedding, pink and gray.

ATC Swap

I joined an ATC Swap on Split Coast Stampers. We were to create 10 cards to swap. The lady that was hosting this swap was doing it to give the cards to her mother for her birthday. She said her mother loved the cards and can't stop looking at them.

Various Cards

I usually photograph the cards I have been making but, thanks to Ike, it is raining pretty hard outside. I also like to take the pictures outside for better lighting. Tonight I used the scanner.

On the WRAK group with Split Coast Stampers, we exchange stamped images. This little turtle is by Whipper Snapper Designs called "Take The Cake".


This little guy is also a WRAK image from Whipper Snapper Designs called "Birthday Monster". The card design is SCS sketch challenge 193.

I actually own this next stamp! I bought it at Archivers in Colorado Springs. Archivers is a scrapbook store that is in several different cities - just not where I live! It is a Stampendous stamp called "Changito Bday".

Also at Split Coast Stampers on the RAK group, there was a Labor Day Challenge. The challenge is to make cards and donate them to our Armed Forces so our troops can send cards back to their families and loved ones at home. This is one of the cards I will be donating. They are trying to have 3,000 cards donated. I will be sending 3!

They did this challenge on the 4th of July weekend and received 2,000 cards.

Cards, cards and more cards

Last weekend on Split Coast Stampers, they had a Labor Day Challenge. The challenge was for people to make cards and then send them to an assigned person, who will send them to our troops overseas. They are sent blank and then the troops can pick the card they want to send back to family members. I am a very slow card maker and so far I have 2 to send. The first 2 shown, I will be sending for the challenge.


I had originally made this card for the Split Coast Stampers Labor Day Challenge, but my husband chose it for his sister's birthday. I guess he liked it!!!

I celebrated my birthday recently and here are all the cards I received. I received 12 from family and friends and 18 from the BRAK (Birthday Random Acts of Kindness) group that I have joined on Split Coast Stampers. It was fun to receive so many different cards from all over the U.S., even from Canada!

I enjoyed how easy this card was to assemble! This time I made a Halloween Card. And of course, it had to be a kitty!

SCS Challenge

I made this card for the Split Coast Stampers Challenge today.

Kind of a Get Well Card - without the words "Get Well"

J's cousin fell and broke her leg in 5 places! Since I have been making cards for birthdays, I decided I needed to make her a get well card.

Recipe card & ATC Swap

I joined a few online swaps and these are the items I made.

The recipe swap was for a chicken dish. I used one of our family favorites, Chicken-Broccoli Casserole.

This was an ATC swap (Artist Trading Card). It was called Happy Haunting. The lady that was the hostess will be giving her mother all the cards we made for her birthday. I used an older stamp from Stampin Up and the ribbon was a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) from Terese. Thanks Terese.

The backdrop was a cross stitch I did several years ago and mounted on a box that I made (not designed, though)

This swap was a calendar swap. Each person was to make 12 ATC's for one month. I chose October. I love the colors that are used for the Halloween time of year. The spider was from the same Stampin Up stamp set. Lisa helped me with the bling. Thanks Lisa.
