2nd Anniversary of Pink Saturday

This is the second anniversary of Pink Saturday with Beverly of How Sweet the Sound!

Please join in the fun of all things Pink!

I am highlighting a pretty plate my Mother-In-Law gave me one Christmas. I don't know anything about the maker of this plate.

Does anyone with Pink Saturday know anything special about this manufacturer?

I Still Can Sew!!!

If you are my sister, get out of the blog NOW, unless you want to spoil one of your birthday presents from me.
Everyone else, I can still sew. Sewing was my first craft love. I even use to sew models for a quilt store - not quilts though - I made the cute little stuff animals and dolls. I think I burned myself out on sewing by doing that, but after a long break, it feels really good again.
I found this sunglass case pattern on Studio Cherie. The pattern is available on etsy in her etsy shop. The fabric I used is by Moda and is called Frolic. I got the fabric at a local quilt store but it is also available at The Fat Quarter Shop online.

Thanks for looking!

Cute Etsy Find

I found the cutest herb garden markers. At first, I had the lovely plastic markers that come with the plants. Actually, I know the difference between the different herbs, but I just wanted some of those cute markers. So, on with the search and this is what I bought.

And here are my happy herbs...
Miss Rosemary - love you in a roast!

Miss Basil - you are great in salads!

and Miss Oregano. Also great in roast and pastas.

You can get your own set at CambriRea's Shop!

Welcome to Beverly's Pink Saturday!

Another busy week! Kids are finished with college exams!!! But a busy summer is in store.
Today I am excited to show a piece of depression glass that I got for my Mother for Mother's Day. (shhhh, don't tell her please!)
There must of been a piece similar to this one that my Grandmother had and after her passing, it has disappeared and my Mother does not know where it is or which family member has it. Anyway, she found a piece on ebay and asked me to look at it and possibly place a bid for her. I didn't get that auction - it got way to expensive, but about 1 month ago I started looking again and found this pretty piece.

Looks like I need to examine blogs more carefully and learn how to "stage" a prettier picture. Bare with me, someday I may learn.

To find a lot of pretty pink items, go to Beverly's blog and have fun hopping from blog to blog.

I enjoy reading Lisa's blog of Pupylov from Pink Saturday. Her blog is actually in my Google Reader. Hop over there for some more pretty pink items.

Hybrid Sock Monkeys

Sock Monkeys...who doesn't like sock monkeys. They are always smiling and look so friendly.

I made these Sock Monkey envelope seals or stickers using a paper pack and elements pack from Cupcake Cutiees on My Grafico. After purchasing and downloading the products from My Grafico, I opened up PhotoShop, resized the bottom layer so it would fit better on the small scale, added the sock monkey and then added a soft edge to make Miss Monkey appear to have a 3-D look. (Most digital papers are still sized 12 x 12 and too big for the small scale I am working with)

These envelope seals are in my Etsy Shop. When using digital packs that you purchase on-line and plan on using to resale, you must be careful that the artist allows commercial use. Sometimes you need to purchase a commercial license. Always read the "TOU" - terms of use. (Can you tell I have worked with attorneys for about 30 years! & no, I am not that old! lol)

I am linking with several blog parties. Please join and hop from blog to blog - it is fun, plus, we all love comments.....

Diary of a Mad Dirty Housekeeper - Day 2 - Part 1

Followup on Day 1.....

Worked upstairs in craft room and it looks a lot better. Holiday items are still in boxes, but I have eliminated a few things I no longer "love". They have been placed on a table in another room in anticipation of a garage sale. I think our neighborhood has it's annual sale in May. If I don't have the garage sale, off to Goodwill they will go!
The holiday decorating items are straightened and back inside the closet. Uncovered some wonderful fabric that I can't wait to use, but it is still neatly tucked away in the closet.
Conclusion: A little more work to be done, but it is already looking a lot better!

Go me!

Diary of a Mad Dirty Housekeeper

Ok, here it goes. I am posting about my dirty house. You see, yesterday my friend Lisa and I were discussing our houses. Lisa recently (3.5 months ago) moved to Texas (cough, cough - get that tumbleweed out of my throat). Anyway, she was talking about the boxes she still needed to unpack and I said, well, I have lived in this house 7 years and it is stuffed with junk. So, we decided it would be fun (whatever) to take pictures of what we thought looked bad in our houses and share them with each other. After seeing her "studio", I told her I had her beat! I sent my pictures and I haven't heard back, so I guess she is still on the ground from fainting.

My Goals:

1) To get the craft room picked up and neat so I can do some sewing. My sewing machine has been seeing a lot of cute things to make on the internet and she wants to get warmed up again! (Yes, my sewing machine talks to me and looks at blogs, doesn't yours?)

2) Get the studio picked up (again) and organized for more productive time so I can get more goodies on Etsy. This room seems to be the catch-all when people come over.

Day 1 - Friday, April 9th - I am working upstairs in the craft room. I will let you know if I get it in better shape.

Doubtful I will post pictures of my junky rooms!

Oh, and by the way - I really do like Texas!

I am a bad girl!

It is Saturday again! I emailed Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and said that I would participate in Pink Saturday. I had all intention of doing a posting correctly. Pink plates, pink dish, something in the house that is pink that I own. Before I knew it, it is late Friday and I didn't take a pink photo! So.....below is a photo that my son took last year at school in his photography class. His class went on a field trip to the zoo and they had to take certain photos, like a reflection in a pool of water and of course, animals - but they are not PINK and he didn't take any pictures of flamingos. This photo probably was showing depth. It is a pretty photo (proud momma). Soon azaleas will be blooming and hopefully my front yard will include some of these beauties.

At least this time I am remembering the assignment. Here is a blog that I visited for the first time. Christie has some beautiful items and some yummy sounding recipes.

I promise to do better - soon!
Have a wonderful Easter Sunday. Till next time {waving}

Digital Time

I have been having fun with PhotoShop, again. I received the program for my birthday one year and started using it for digital scrapbooking, but then I went back to the paper form. There is something about paper, fabric, etc. and feeling it with your fingers! Of course, there is always new designs in the printed paper - which one cannot live without! That would be me! But, on the same note, I like looking at it in the digital form too. (I want it all!!!) That brings us to the tags I made. This is digital paper that I sized down, removed the inside portion, added a light green edging before the digital paper starts. Added a few sentiments by text in PhotoShop - then back to regular paper playing, inked the edges in CocoaBrown, added a grommet, string and you have a cute tag.

Christmas tags will be fun this year!

Thank you for stopping by! {waving}

What Happened To My Tomboy?

my little tomboy boomer had a life changing experience yesterday.
i have been thinking her claws needed trimming. i did it
once when she was a little puppy &
didn't like the results. so, i never tried again.
yesterday, my sister dropped her dog (herein after referred to as "maggie" or "my sister's puppy)
by the groomer.
i asked if she knew how much they would charge to trim boomer's nails.
she called & they told her they would trim her nails for free.
(slow day & she just wanted to keep busy)
i told my husband, we can't do that to the groomer.
so, i called & asked how much she would charge to give
boomer a bath. i also explained that boomer had never
been to the groomer.
to make a long story short, boomer went to the groomer for the
first time.
she loved it - felt like a princess! the groomer said she was very good &
even held her paws up for the nail clipping.
when we picked her up, she was smiling & wearing a purple bandana & had purple bows
in her fur! her fur is shiney & smells sooo good!
& maggie - she was happy to see her aunt & uncle at the groomer's place too.
maggie doesn't really care for her younger cousin boomer. you see, boomer is
a border collie & maggie is a pomeranian & one time when maggie
came to see us, boomer walked up to maggie & maggie
jumped into the pool!

Stamping World Meets Digital World

Wow - I do love this look of black ink on kraft cardstock! (Waving to Lisa - she's the one who gave me this idea!) Ok, as far as Digital World - not too much here - but it is a start! I used PhotoShop to make my boxes and for the sentiment, but the bunny is a rubber stamp.

These are in my Etsy Shop and if you purchase a set (or 2 sets or 3 sets - gotta dream big! lol) I will include some kraft envelope seals.

Vintage Sheet Music Envelope Seals

My poor blog has been so neglected. Occasionally, I will play with Beverly's Pink Saturday, but with 2 boys, there isn't much pink around.

Today, I saw at Everything Etsy, a blog party (thanks Lisa!!!) and I decided to join.

These are envelope seals I made with vintage music. The music came from my mother's house and she got a ton of music years ago when my Grandmother passed away. These are music pieces that my Grandmother did not care for - not her favorite music. My Grandmother was a very talented piano player.
